Galler Yarns INCA-ECO Cotton

I am delighted to have been asked to join the blog tour for a new yarn by Galler Yarns. The yarn is Inca-Eco 100% organic cotton and is available in 15 pretty shades! I chose a really pretty shade of pink called Blossom which I love!

Inca-Eco is imported from Peru and is a slight thick and thin yarn. The yarn was easy to wind and did not become all tangled like some yarns do. I love the fact that it is dyed with "low-impact, environmentally-friendly dyes". The skein is a generous 140 yards and 3-1/2 ounces and that is definitely enough for a small project! It is available in Ecru, Butter, Sage, Blue Stone, Blossom, Rose, Lavender, Aloe, Aqua, Denim, Espresso, Wine, Raspberry, Navy, Black.

Inca-Eco is so soft and easy to crochet with. It slides easily through your hands and fingers, which can make for faster and more comfortable crocheting. I design a lot of newborn photography props and this yarn would be ideal for this kind of crochet item for babies, as it is not only very soft, but also organic!

Inca-Eco would make wonderful wearables and accessories, so I chose to create a slouchy beret with it for my daughter. She loves this color pink! The crochet fabric has a beautiful drape, especially when crocheting with a larger hook. I used an N (9mm) crochet hook for the sample beret. I hope to be able to show you the finished beret in another post.

Hug It Out Review and Giveaway

"Show how much you care with these easy crocheted 'hugs'."

Just in time for Spring, we have a brand new crochet book review and giveaway! How lucky are we to have a chance to win ANOTHER new crochet book from The Crochet Dude himself, Drew Emborsky!
Obviously, Drew has been as busy as ever turning out multiple books this year already.
I love this new book entitled, Hug It Out published by Leisure Arts. It has a great variety of crochet projects in it, suitable for all crochet levels!
Drew dedicates this book to his Mom, with whom he spent many evenings crocheting with, while they made gifts for others. Drew tells a poignant story of how he got started crocheting for others, which is the basis for this book!
Hug It Out crochet contains nine new crochet designs 'that will give you the opportunity to help others in their time of need".

Some of my favorite designs include:

Chemo Cap

Comfort Teddy and

Comfortghan

One lucky reader will win a copy of this book, compliments of Leisure Arts. To be eligible to win, comment on this post telling us what "comfort" crochet item that you have made and who it was for.
Please don't forget to LEAVE your EMAIL ADDRESS  or a way that you can be reached if you are the winner. I will be out of town on and off this month, so our contest will run a bit longer than usual. One winner will be drawn at random Monday, March 19, 2012.
