MAGNETIC NOTEPAD HOLDER with Pencil
Materials: Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn, 1-1/2 oz Buff, ½ oz. Lt. Rose;
F (3.75mm) & G (4mm) hooks; tapestry needle; Aleene’s Designer Tacky Glue;
3/4" heavy-duty magnets, 3; 3-1/2" x 5" notepad; pencil matching heart yarn color;
½ sheet Ultra-Stiff plastic canvas.
Size: 5-1/2" Wide x 9" Long
Gauge: 4 sc = 1 inch; 4 rows = 1 inch
BACK
Row 1: With
G hook and Buff, ch 19; sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea ch
across, ch
1, turn. (18).
Rows 2-34:
Sc in ea sc across, ch 1, turn. (18).
Rnd 35:
Working in ends of rows and in ea sc, sc around outer edge of Back, making
3 sc in corners. Join with a sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Using Back
as a pattern, cut plastic canvas slightly smaller than Back.
FRONT
Rows 1-24:
Repeat Rows 1-24 of Back. (18).
Row 25: Sc
in first 2 sc, ch 14, skip 14 sc, sc in last 2 sc, ch 1, turn. (14 ch, 4 sc).
Row 26: Sc
in ea sc and ch across, ch 1, turn. (18).
Rows 27-34:
Sc in ea sc across, ch 1, turn. (18).
Rnd 35:
Repeat Rnd 35 of Back. Fasten off.
JOINING: Holding
Front and Back with wrong sides together, with plastic canvas
sandwiched
in between, working in BOTH Back Loops only through both thicknesses,
join Light
Rose in any Back Loop of Rnd 35; (ch 1, sl st in next st) around,
joining
sides together. Join with a st st to first ch-1. Fasten off.
HEART (Make 3)
Row 1: With Light Rose and F hook, ch 2; 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook,
ch 1, turn. (3).
Row 2: Sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (4).
Row 3: 2 sc in first sc, sc in ea sc across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (6).
Row 4: Sc in ea sc across, ch 1, turn. (6).
Rnd 5: Sc in first sc, (hdc, dc, hdc) in next sc, sl st in next 2 sc, (hdc, dc, hdc) in next
sc, sc in last sc; working around outer edge of heart, ch 1, sc in end of ea row, 3 sc in
point, sc in end of ea row up other side of heart; join with a sl st to first sc. Fasten
off, leaving length for sewing.
For Holder: Sew heart to top center of holder over Rows 37-43, stuffing with small
amount of Lt Rose yarn before closing.
Glue 2 heavy duty magnets to back of holder. (Magnets must be heavy duty, or holder will slip down side of refrigerator.)
For Pencil, holding remaining 2 hearts with wrong sides together, sew hearts together
through Back Loops Only, stuffing with small amount of Rose yarn and leaving three stitches
open at point to insert pencil. Glue eraser end of pencil into bottom opening of heart.
Glue remaining magnet to back of heart of pencil.
