Colorful Crochet Lace Book Review and GIVEAWAY!

Obviously, I LOVE crochet! My tastes in our craft have changed dramatically over the many years that I have crocheted, but one thing is certain: I LOVE crochet lace and 'lacey' patterns. It is what drew me to crochet so many years ago.

So, when I flipped through Mary Jane Hall's newest crochet book, Colorful Crochet Lace published by Interweave, I was in heaven!

Truly, the designs in this book are BEAUTIFUL! Each project is as pretty as the next!

After reading through this book and seeing all the incredible designs in it, I believe that this is one of the best wearable crochet design books I have ever seen!

Colorful Crochet Lace has a total of 22 designs, including both garments and accessories. Each pattern features 'lacey' and feminine stitch designs. Some of the designs are intricate, but others are simple openwork lace patterns that are surprisingly easy to do!

Several of the projects are crocheted using the Graduated Stitch Method, a technique Mary Jane developed that allows for shaping and customized fit without increases or decreases.  Mary Jane originally introduced this technique in her Crochet That Fits book.

The photography is stunning and the diagrams and schematics are consistent with the perfection that we all associate with Interweave publications. I also love the Custom Fit information that is included with some of the designs.
There is definitely something for every crocheter in this book.

All of the projects in this book can be seen on Ravelry at the link below.

Thank you for that chance and for this interesting interview :)
My absolute favourites are the belt, the parisian gardens circular and the tunique unique pullover ...as they are really lacy it will not be a problem to afford the yarn and take the time to crochet them :)

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, Mary Jane Hall :D
My husband even asked me, why I was so happy all of a sudden :)
I never thought that someone who designs such beautiful things would even consider looking at the things that I crochet ...thank you :D

I enjoy doing a variety of projects! I have been making cowls lately both lace and with yarn for Christmas presents. The patterns in the book are lovely. Excellent job!

Hi Jocelyn, although I don't have a favourite item per se, lately I have made several shawls. Wearable items make up the majority of my crochet projects, but I enjoy making toys as well. Anything with lace in the design gets thumbs up from me. So Mary Jane's book has me itching to crochet. I especially like her hooded jacket, the bags...oh and the dress and the shrug... Thanks for asking!

Katelyn, I'm so happy I inspired you to think about making crochet garments! It's easier than you think!

Carmen, I love doilies too and that's why I designed a Doily Circular Shawl and Doily Bag.

Thank you for the giveaway! I like to crochet shawls, scarves and wraps mostly, although I would really like to make a crochet top, so this book would be lovely!

I've been eyeing the Tunique Unique pullover for some time now, but I just went to the Ravelry page to look at the rest of the designs and I have to say I love the Au Natural crop top too! Not sure which I would want to make first.

I'm love these! We just moved to Mississippi and the lacey designs will be great for mild winters! Thank you for the review and introducing me to this designer, Jocelyn!

Oh my goodness!! I cannot pick a favorite. I need this.. Want this. Got to have this!!

I think all of the designs are so lovely; it's hard to choose just one. If I had to pick one it would be the Magnifique Modular Tunic. I love to crochet motifs and it appears as though this top is made of motifs pieced in such a way to make a beautiful tunic!

To the KIRKWOODS 2.0 - you made me smile!

Thank you needlekrafter! That's a popular one!

I hate to chicken out here, but I'm with KIRKWOODS! to look quickly and pick a favorite seems an impossible task!
I've already added the book to my Wish List (Amazon) - and would love to have it and to try this sizing method about which I've been reading! It seems a lot easier - and makes more sense than the 'old' method...
And I truly want to be able to learn more lace technique!

There are several favorites in here - I'll have to look longer and think harder before I can pick just one! (and then save up for some special yarn/thread with which to make it!).
Does chickening out count?
I truly do want this book! Saw an ad also in Interweave Magazine - feel like this book is supposed to be here on my yarny shelf with my few other books...
Thank you for the opportunity!
and Merry Christmas to all in the Crochet Community!
