Sometimes when I want to look for a specific pattern, I will search Pinterest!

In honor or "MOVEMBER", Cute Crochet Chat presents its newest Pinterest Boards, one for CROCHET and one for CRAFTS in general!

What is Movember?

Movember is an annual event during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and has evolved into including other men's health issues. The premise is for men to grow a mustache to help support this effort. Their goal is to is 'to change the face of men's health'.

I thought it would be fun to showcase several different crochet mustache and beard designs as well as present the crafty side of Movember as well!

Are you on Pinterest yet? If not, you are missing out on some incredible eye candy, no matter what your interests are!

It is not new, but not everyone has jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon!

What is Pinterest?
It is the fastest growing image 'bookmark tool' that you have at your disposal on the Internet today. It allows you to 'save' images and websites that you want to remember!

FROM GOOGLE:
"Pinterest is a social network that allows users to visually share, and discover new interests by posting (known as 'pinning' on Pinterest) images or videos to their own or others' boards (i.e. a collection of 'pins,' usually with a common theme) and browsing what other users have pinned."
So, how does that relate to you? It means that you, too, can save and bookmark ANYTHING with an image or video that you want to remember!

Check out MY Pinterest page and you will see that I have MANY categories of crochet because that is my biggest interest. BUT, I also have 'BOARDS' for recipes, gardening ideas, books, etc.

Pinterest Board of the Week - Tawashi

TAWASHI CROCHET

I know that Tawashi could be in the category of Kitchen Crochet, but I think that there are so many unique and cute Tawashi crochet patterns, that I wanted to devote an entire Pinterest search to Tawashi!

What is Tawashi you ask?

The actual meaning of Tawashi:
a Japanese traditional scrubbing brush to wash off dirt. There can be many different types of 'tawashi' depending upon the material it is made from.
For the last several years, knitters and crocheters have been making 'tawashi' to use as sponges or scrubbies for dishes and other cleaning/scrubbing. In Japan, antibacterial yarn is usually used for Tawashi. I don't know how long Japanese knitters and crocheters have been making tawashi.

I once participated in a 'Tawashi' swap on Ravelry. You can read all about it HERE. In that POST, I give links to the free Tawashi patterns I used!

It was great fun and my package arrived from Great Britain! I thought it was so ironic that one of the crochet items I received was a Chicken Potholder that was designed by my good friend and fellow designer, Michele Wilcox!

Pinterest Crochet Board of the Week - Flowers

What better way to celebrate Summer and crochet than with small projects that represent this season!

Who doesn't love flowers? And when you combine them with your favorite craft technique, everyone wins! Try experimenting with yarns (like cotton) that are more suited for warm weather crochet.

There were a lot great crochet boards with a Crochet Flower theme, as you can imagine.

Pinterest Board of the Week - Kitchen Crochet

Years ago, I wanted to learn to crochet home decor items such as doilies. I loved the delicate nature of using crochet thread and a tiny hook.
But then I discovered cotton yarn and items that I could make for the kitchen, such as dishcloths. I was eternally hooked! I love all the different color combinations and stitches that can be used in 'kitchen' crochet!
Crocheting items for the kitchen is a great way to practice your crochet stitches and patterns, while making something quick and useful!
