I was delighted when Shannon from the Shibaguyz asked me to look over a copy of his new book, Designer Crochet: 32 Patterns to Elevate Your Style
This book is a collaboration of both designer Shannon Mullett-Bowlsby and photographer Jason Mullett-Bowlsby.
Have you longed for CONTEMPORARY crochet fashions that you could make for yourself? Then read on to see how this book is for you, whether you are making your first crochet garment or you are a seasoned veteran of crochet clothing!
You will be able to crochet a wide variety of sophisticated garments, that use lovely stitch patterns and motifs and because Shannon uses only lightweight yarns for these designs, the items will have a beautiful drape, not always seen in crochet garments!
Shannon includes great how-to's that are easy to follow, especially for beginner crocheters. But his tutorials do not stop there. Advanced crocheters will love the special techniques that are included as well.
All the garments in the book are sized from size Small to 5X, and he also gives detailed instructions to guide you through changing sizes.
The photography is beautiful and Jason made sure to take some very detailed close up shots that enhance the already stunning stitch patterns in some of these designs.
Some of the chapters in this book include:
- A great Introduction where Shannon outlines what you can expect in this book;
- Getting Started, which outlines most of what you need to know to begin a project;
- Special Techniques, which gives "written instructions and photo tutorials for stitches and techniques used most commonly throughout this book";
- A Materials List for each project in the book.
The GALLERY photos alone from the page above will make you want a copy of this book!
Some of my favorite designs include:
Cloaked Hood Hoodie
Cross Front Vest
Cables and Lace Tunic
